Slovenian Scientific committee for the deliberate release of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) into the environment and placing products on the market at its 24th meeting discussed scientific article »Long term toxicity of a Roundup herbicide and a Roundup-tolerant genetically modified maize«, authors G. E. Séralini, E. Clair, R. Mesnage, S. Gress, N. Defarge, M. Malatesta, D. Hennequin, J.S. de Vendômois, Food and Chemical Toxicology 50 (11):4221-4231 (2012). They assessed the peer review publication and consider this novel scientific information regarding introduction of the safeguard clause in accordance with Article 51a of the Management of Genetically Modified Organisms Act (MGMO Act, OJ RS 23/2005 consolidated version and 21/2010) or emergency measures in line with Article 34 of Regulation (EC) No 1829/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council on genetically modified food and feed, and adopted scientific opinion.
